LOGAN COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) – A community has been keeping a close watch on the woods after the forest behind their homes caught fire.
The Cora Volunteer Fire Department in Logan County said the forest along Whitman Creek was on fire Thursday night. They said control lines have been put in closer toward areas including Coalwood.
The fire was burning behind homes on Whitman Creek.
Firefighters were asking not to report the fire, since both the fire department and the West Virginia Division of Forestry are aware of it.
They said, though, if the fire becomes a threat to your house or property not to hesitate to call 911.
It’s also a good reminder that dry conditions and wind do not mix well with fire – and to be mindful of fire bans.
