ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - The Cobb County School Board announced Thursday it had voted to add eight more Vapor Wake Canine teams to the district.
The new teams will double the number of teams in the district. The 16 total teams will be enough to assign one to each high school.
The animals are trained in what’s known as “Vapor Wake” detection, meaning they constantly sample the air for scents and can track threats while in motion for real-time monitoring.
Unlike the K9s you might see working at the airport, students will be able to interact with these new dogs as they do their jobs.
The dogs come to Cobb County through a partnership with Global K9 Protection Group, an organization specializing in K9 screening.
