A sexually violent predator — once known as the Bolder Than Most Rapist for committing a series of rapes in the 1980s — has been arrested again.

Alvin Ray Quarles was released as a transient in Campo earlier this year after serving 25 years in state prison and about a decade in sex offender treatment at Coalinga State Hospital.

Quarles was arrested for violating the terms of his parole, according to the San Diego District Attorney's Office.

He is being held without bail and there's a court hearing scheduled for Friday afternoon.

Quarles pleaded guilty to four forcible rape counts in 1989. Prosecutors have said that Quarles would assault his victims at knifepoint, sometimes forcing the women's boyfriends or husbands to watch.
