The intense Bihar assembly polls’ counting process is underway across districts, with results likely to be declared later in the day. The process commenced at 8 am today, with postal ballot counting starting first, followed by EVM counting at 8:30 am. Bihar recorded a landmark 67.13% voter turnout, the highest since 1951, with women voters outdoing men (71.6% vs 62.8%), in the two-phase voting held on November 6 and November 11.
Meanwhile, counting is underway for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly. As of 10:30 am, Janata Dal (United) is leading the fight with 77 seats, while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is racing ahead on 73 seats, as per the Election Commission of India. Rashtriya Janata Dal has so far maintained a lead on 42 seats, while Congress is racing ahead on 7 seats, ECI trend.
