AMES, Iowa —
Audi Crooks scored 43 points at Hilton Coliseum on Wednesday night, leading Iowa State to a victory over Valparaiso and breaking the school single-game scoring record set in 1984 by Tonya Burns.
Associate Head Coach Jodi Steyer knew Crooks was cooking early on, "I kind of look up at the scoreboard and think she already has 10."
But Steyer says she wasn't sure how long Crooks would keep making shots. When she subbed out 6 minutes into the game, Crooks ran into the locker room, where she got sick.
"I wasn't sure what kind of night we were going to have the rest of the night, but she said she felt alright, got a little sick then and then when she went in there it was," Steyer said.
In the remaining 14 minutes on the floor, Crooks put up 33 more points to finish with 43. Cr
