BISMARCK, N.D. (KFYR) - A North Dakota state trooper rescued a puppy left behind at the scene of a crash on Wednesday.
According to a post from the highway patrol, Trooper Tom Steenstrup responded to a crash where the driver fled in another vehicle. The patrol did not indicate the location of the crash.
Steenstrup found a scared, shivering pup left behind in the crashed vehicle.
The patrol said a member of their Crash Assistance Program volunteers at a local dog rescue and brought the pup--now named Tom--into her home.
As for the crash, the driver has been identified and faces multiple charges. The incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
