SPOKANE, Wash. - For the first time since the McCarthey Athletic Center's opening in 2004, the Gonzaga Bulldogs dropped their home opener.
The Colorado State Rams stormed Spokane for a 70-66 comeback win, shaking off a tremendous 29-point performance from redshirt Zags freshman Lauren Whittaker.
The New Zealander had by far her best performance of the season in the loss, adding seven rebounds and four made three-pointers.
The soon-to-be Pac-12 foe Rams locked down GU star Allie Turner, limiting her to only two points and 0-3 from deep.
Gonzaga quickly turns around for their second home game when they host the Stanford Cardinal this Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
