For two-and-a-half years, those affected by the Hunter Valley wedding bus tragedy have been living in "extended pain" as the driver's court proceedings continued.

Brett Button, now 61, had his sentence appeal dismissed on all grounds on Friday, November 14, meaning he will serve his 32-year jail sentence with a 24-year non-parole period.

The Court of Criminal Appeal judgment handed down in Sydney found the impact of Button's offending was incalculable, ongoing, and had been felt across the community.

Button was dosed up on the opioid painkiller that he was addicted to, joking about rollercoasters and ignoring pleas from passengers to slow down when tragedy struck on the night of June 11, 2023.
