Janshakti Janata Dal founder Tej Pratap Yadav is trailing with over 5,500 votes in the Mahua Assembly constituency, while LJP(RV) candidate Sanjay Kumar Singh is leading as counting was underway for the Bihar elections on Friday.
Tej Pratap Yadav, son of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, formed Janshakti Janata Dal after he was expelled from RJD earlier this year.
According to the Election Commission of India’s (ECI’s) early trends (as of 10.30 a.m.), Sanjay Kumar was leading with 2,294 votes, while RJD’s Mukesh Kumar Raushan was trailing in second place, AIMIM candidate Amit Kumar at third, while Tej Pratap Yadav stood at fourth place, trailing with 5823 votes.
Tej Pratap was the MLA for Mahua in 2015, while in 2020, RJD’s Mukesh Kumar Raushan represented the seat.
