NEW DELHI: Chirag Paswan’s Lok Janshakti Party Ram Vilas appears set for a strong performance in the Bihar assembly elections , with the party leading in 22 seats according to the latest trends on the Election Commission website. This is the most impressive showing for LJP(RV) compared to 2020, when it managed to win only one seat. In the 2020 Bihar elections, LJP(RV) contested 137 seats but secured just one victory. Despite this, Chirag Paswan’s aggressive campaign against Nitish Kumar split the JD(U) vote, causing Nitish Kumar-lea party’s tally to fall from 71 seats in 2015 to 43 in 2020. This decline was widely attributed to the vote cutting effect of LJP(RV).
