Renault has renamed its Chennai plant as Gerard Detourbet Chennai Plant, in a tribute to the French engineer who invented the company’s successful models - Kwid and Duster.
Stéphane Deblaise, CEO, Renault Group India, shared the information on social media. “Chennai plant becomes Gerard Detourbet Chennai plant, a way to pay tribute to the inventor of Duster, he said.
The Ambassador of France, Thierry Mathou, joined him at this turning point of Renault , he added.
Gerard Detourbet, who died in France in December 2019 at the age of 73, was also the father of the entry-level sedan, Logan, which was part of the then Mahindra-Renault joint venture. Comments
