MARANA, Ariz. (KVOA) - Marana Water held the first of its two public outreach meetings on a proposed multi-year water rate increase.
Marana Water is considering increasing both water and reclaimed water rates through 2030. This would result in the average family of four paying more than $80 extra per year. A typical family of four uses about 7,000 gallons of total water per month, according to the Town of Marana.
Gayle Hutchison, a retiree and the only attendee at the meeting, expressed her concerns about the proposed changes.
“I’m just trying to keep track of it, you know it’s hard. I'm on a fixed income. I don't get 10%, I get 2 and a half,” Hutchison said.
Hutchison was referring to the proposed increase of more than 10% per year for water rates. Reclaimed water costs would rise
