INDIANAPOLIS — A proposal to bring open-container drinking to Irvington is getting some pushback from neighbors. Some people support the idea. Others say it's the wrong fit.
The historic Irvington district on Indianapolis' east side could become the city's first Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area in just under a month.

The proposal would create a DORA, letting adults carry drinks between participating businesses inside a marked boundary.
Supporters say it could boost local shops during big events, but many Irvington residents say they didn't know about the plan until recently and feel it's being pushed through too quickly.
