For more than 30 years families have been hoping on board East Lancashire Railway’s Santa Specials for a festive journey through the Irwell Valley.

The services will be back once more later this month as Santa Claus, Mrs Claus and a host of Christmassy characters welcome passengers on board for a magical journey.

Father Christmas and his helpers have been busy decorating the ELR with picturesque props, magical lights and lots of tinsel.

Visitors can meet Mrs Claus, get up close to a mystical talking Christmas Tree and meet ELR’s very own Ice Princess, before setting off on an 80-minute journey from Bury to Rawtenstall through the beautiful Irwell Valley.
