Maui County firefighters responded to two separate blazes on Molokai Wednesday that destroyed three structures.
The first was reported at 3:43 p.m. on the 2600 block of Lihi Pali Avenue in Hoolehua. Two fire engines and a water tanker arrived at the scene to find an abandoned 1,800-square-foot structure ablaze, according to the Maui Fire Department. Firefighters extended hose lines to douse the fire and prevent its spread to neighboring brush.
The flames were brought under control at 4:15 p.m. and the fire declared extinguished at 7:14 p.m. MFD said the structure, valued at $119,200, was a total loss. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
