PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - The government shutdown may be over, but federal workers are still waiting for paychecks, and a Portland food pantry says the demand for help hasn’t eased.

For Portland International Airport TSA officer Grant Linscomb, 43 days of waiting are now behind him. But even with the record-long shutdown over, he says the relief is only partial.

“I believe I speak for a vast majority of federal employees who feel like every time the government shuts down and we don’t get paid, we’re being used for leverage. We’re just tired of being used as pawns in this,” Linscomb said.

Linscomb serves as a steward for the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE) Local 1127.
