OLYMPIA, Wash. – Washington Attorney General Nick Brown has announced the creation of a new worker rights unit to bolster protections for employees across the state.

Washington is known for having some of the nation’s strongest worker protection laws. These include safeguards against pregnancy-related discrimination, heat protections for outdoor workers and protections against retaliation.

In addition, Washington boasts the second-highest minimum wage in the country.

The newly formed worker rights unit will collaborate with other divisions within the Attorney General’s office focusing on areas such as worker safety, the environment and civil rights.
