Heath Gleeson said he runs about 160 cows on his property, north-west of Bendemeer and said a mild spring had kept his oats crop fresh after a good wet winter.
"We mainly run cows and calves, but with the feed on board, it was a good chance to top up our numbers again," he said.
"The oats are still holding on, so we thought we might as well get some steers before it goes off," he said.
