Bailey Flavell’s layup off a scramble for an offensive rebound in overtime ended a scoreless drought of more than 10 minutes for the Hawaii women’s basketball team, which avoided a major upset against Division II St. Martin’s, 46-41, tonight at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.

A crowd of 809 watched the teams combine for one made free throw over the final eight minutes of regulation, pushing the game to go an additional five minutes.

Flavell, who finished with a game-high 15 points, scored two baskets and assisted on the other for Hawaii (2-0), which won despite turning the ball over 30 times and shooting 1-for-26 from the 3-point line.
