Congress continues to be the weak link in the Mahagathbandhan (RJD + Congress + Left + allies) as early trends from the Bihar Assembly elections show the NDA cruising past the majority mark easily. However, Congress is not the only party facing setbacks this election. The RJD, which had secured 114 seats in the previous assembly, is currently leading in only 58 seats according to early trends despite Tejashwi Yadav’s vigorous campaign against Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Early leads suggest that the RJD-led alliance is struggling to match the NDA’s momentum. According to India Today’s election dashboard till 10 am, the Mahagathbandhan is leading on 77 seats out of 243, with the RJD at 58, Congress at just 14, CPI(ML) (Liberation) at 1, VIP at 1, and CPI at 1.
