One member of the armed mob Donald Trump encouraged to proceed to the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, was Ashli Babbitt, a U.S. Air Force veteran. When this mob broke through police barricades, severely beat police officers, broke through windows and doors of Congress, took over some offices of congressional members and caused untold emotional and financial damage, Ms. Babbitt was killed. Many of these insurrectionists were convicted of crimes and imprisoned, as Ms. Babbitt might well have been had she lived.
These insurrectionists were trying to impede the electoral vote count for Joe Biden and, according to some , with Trump’s encouragement, to “hang Mike Pence.”
Now Mr. Trump has released the insurrectionists and provided slightly less than $5 million to Ms. Babbitt’s family, and his admin
