A shooting at Laney College in Oakland, Calif. on Thursday left a popular coach from the Netflix series "Last Chance U" injured.

"A senior member of our athletic staff was shot on campus in the Laney Field House. The individual was immediately transported to a local hospital, and we are keeping them -- and their loved ones -- in our hearts during this incredibly difficult time," Laney College said in a statement.

The individual involved is legendary coach and "Last Chance U" star John Beam, KTVU reported . Beam, who is now Laney College's athletic director, is the only known victim of the shooting.
