The people of Bihar are awaiting with bated breath the counting of votes on Friday (November 14) for the recently concluded Assembly elections. The result will determine whether JD(U) supremo and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, the state’s longest-serving leader, secures a record fifth term or if the state is set for a change in government.

The state witnessed a historic voter turnout of 67.13% in the polls for the 243-member Assembly, held in two phases on November 6 and 11.

The counting of votes will begin at 8 am, with early trends expected to emerge by around 9 am, according to the Election Commission (EC). A total of 46 counting centres have been set up across 38 districts of the state.

As many as 7.45 crore voters were eligible to decide the fate of 2,616 candidates in this election.
