Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Samrat Choudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, the two deputy chief ministers of Bihar, were leading in their constituencies as votes in the Bihar Assembly elections were being counted on Friday.
At 12.09 am, Choudhary had secured 32,809 votes in Tarapur, while his Rashtriya Janata Dal rival Arun Kumar was trailing with 24,937 votes.
Sinha had received 20,673 votes in the Lakhisarai seat, while the Congress’ Amaresh Kumar was in second place with 15,277 votes.
The Tarapur Assembly seat has been held by the Janata Dal (United) since 2010, and the current MLA is the party’s Rajiv Kumar Singh. Choudhary is currently a member of the Bihar Legislative Council.
Sinha has represented the Lakhisarai constituency since 2010.
