Two people have died after a minibus (Hiace) they were travelling in crashed at Mlambe in the Kasitu area along the Nkhotakota–Nkhatabay M5 road.
An eyewitness, Wesley Kalenga, said the vehicle, carrying passengers and goods such as bananas and cassava, was speeding at the time of the accident.
“The vehicle hit a bump on the road, and because it was moving at high speed and loaded with many goods, it became difficult for the driver to control it,” Kalenga said.
Nkhunga Police spokesperson in Dwangwa, Andrew Kamanga, confirmed the incident, saying the deceased included the driver and one passenger.
Kamanga added that more details will be released once officers who rushed to the scene complete their investigations.
