An Amber rain alert is in place for much of the West Midlands, with a yellow weather warning in force for the rest of the Midlands and southern England.
The Met Office has warned of heavy rain which could lead to "flooding and disruption" today, with six West Midlands areas currently on an amber alert, while a further eight places are dealt a yellow warning.
According to experts areas with an amber alert could face rain which will become "persistent and heavy during Friday."
The guidance read: "Storm Claudia, previously named by the Spanish Meteorological Service, will bring rain that will become persistent and heavy during Friday.
