Up until I heard that Gov. Josh Green plans to inject a liquefied natural gas boondoggle into discussions over the military use of our state’s lands, I was vowing to vote for him if he ran for president. Perhaps not.

We have to thank the Star-Advertiser for publishing Wayne Chung Tanaka and Shery Pollack’s Island Voices column (“Governor’s LNG deal raises bevy of concerns,” Nov. 9) . Not only do the authors expose the dangers the deal with Japanese supplier JERA poses to the health and welfare of the people of Hawaii, but they also demonstrate how it will undermine Hawaii’s commitment to sustainable renewable energy resources.

The authors call for Green to take three obvious steps: share the agreement, name who is involved and describe how he will meet the state’s energy goals. Bette
