NEW DELHI: Celebrated folk singer Maithili Thakur has turned her cultural influence into a political triumph, setting out to secure a historic victory for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Bihar’s Alinagar constituency. This marks the first time since the seat’s formation in 2008 that the BJP has won from Alinagar. The 25-year-old singer, known across India for her soulful performances of traditional Bihari folk and devotional songs, defeated RJD’s Binod Mishra by a significant margin.
