The Indian Army’s Gajraj Corps has developed an indigenous high-altitude monorail system to speed up supply delivery in some of the toughest Himalayan terrains.
Designed to operate at altitudes of up to 16,000 feet in Arunachal Pradesh, the system aims to ensure faster, safer, and more efficient transportation of essential items to soldiers deployed in remote forward areas.
The monorail has been introduced in the Kameng Himalayan region, where roads are absent and conventional vehicles cannot operate.
Narrow mountain trails, loose rocks, harsh and unpredictable weather, and low oxygen levels make even short distances arduous for soldiers, who often carry heavy loads on their backs.
