The top-seeded Cascade Cougars (10-0) play host to the No. 8 Junction City Tigers (7-3) on Friday night in a 4A Oregon high school football playoffs Round 2/state quarterfinals matchup .
Coach Shane Hedrick’s Cougars are coming off a 42-14 win over Pendleton in Round 1. They are undefeated through 10 games, having outscored opponents 459-116. Their roster boasts plenty of star power, including Tri-Valley Conference offensive player of the year Bryce Kuenzi at running back and defensive player of the year Matt Hinkle on the defensive line.
The Tigers, coached by Tye Rauschert, fought off Stayton for a 31-21 first-round victory. Connor Lloyd was the Oregon West Conference lineman of the year , and running back Staton Barnes also was among their first-team selections .
