ALFRED, Maine (WMTW) - Three people who worked as corrections officers at the York County Jail and an inmate at the Maine facility have been indicted on misdemeanor charges in connection with an alleged bribery scheme, according to authorities.
York County Sheriff William King said the incidents came to light in April, when his office received information that some officers may have accepted money from an inmate at the county jail in exchange for contraband.
According to King, it appears investigators brought a stop to the plot before any contraband was brought into the jail.
