In my years of volunteering at shelters and writing about dogs, I have heard countless reasons for abandoning a dog. Yet, every time, I am still shocked by the senselessness of it all.

Sadie’s story is no different. Her abandonment was the result of a broken backyard fence. Yes, you read that right… a fence.

Many people adopt pets without fully understanding the responsibilities involved. When things get difficult, some choose to dump the animal, as if it’s a piece of property rather than a living, breathing companion.
