The Left parties of the Mahagathbandhan – CPI, CPI(ML) Liberation and CPI(M) – seem to be facing a setback when compared to their performance in the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections.
Though the counting of votes is still on and the official results of the Bihar Assembly elections 2025 are yet to come in, the NDA is all set for a thumping win, with close to 200 seats in the 243-member assembly. The BJP looks likely to emerge as the single largest party in the state as it is leading in around 90 seats, with ally JD(U) coming a close second at around 80. The NDA had won 125 seats in the last assembly polls.
The Mahagathbandhan, on the other hand, stands decimated, leading in only around 35 seats – a steep fall from the 110 seats it won in 2020.
