The Guardians have announced the hiring of former Seattle Mariners hitting and bullpen coach Tony Arnerich to be Cleveland's next bench coach.

Craig Albernaz, who acted as Stephen Vogt 's bench coach in each of his first two seasons as Guardians manager, left to be the manager for the Baltimore Orioles .

Arnerich, 45, spent the last nine seasons in various roles with the Mariners, including hitting coach, bullpen coach and catching instructor. Arnerich actually replaced Vogt in the last role after he took the Guardians' managerial job prior to the 2024 season.

Arnerich played five seasons in the minor leagues between 2001-2005 in the Kansas City Royals and Florida Marlins systems, eventually reaching Double-A before retiring as a player.
