My favorite experiment during the year is to challenge myself and others to write down three things every day during November for which you’re thankful.
Don’t just say it or think it. Actually put your pen to paper (old school). This might get you into that much-sought, ever-elusive Christmas spirit better than toys, tinsel, cookies or carols. Here are some ways to keep that daily discipline more interesting and fun.
1. Try thanking God for something for which you’ve never thanked Him. (2 Corinthians 12:7-12)
2. Thank Him for something you still have, instead of what has been taken away. (Job 2:10; 13:15; 1 Samuel 30:1-6)
3. Thank God for something you’ve often seen as a curse; something hard. (Deuteronomy 23:5; Romans 8:28) A silly example is to be thankful for your curly hair. Think
