There's a key mental competency hearing Friday in Brian Walshe 's murder case ahead of the expected trial start.

Walshe, who's accused of killing his wife Ana on New Year's Day 2023, is due in Norfolk Superior Court where doctors are expected to sign off on whether he is mentally competent to stand trial . A previous competency hearing was canceled — Walshe has been at Bridgewater State Hospital for evaluation.

The docket for Norfolk Superior Court — the record of activity in court cases — also lists two other upcoming events, a final pre-trial hearing on Monday and the start of the jury trial on Tuesday. The trial remains scheduled to start next week.
