FAYETTEVILLE -- University of Arkansas Athletic Director Hunter Yurachek accepted the position of chairman of the College Football Playoff selection committee Thursday, a day of a major shakeup for the committee.

Yurachek's ascension was approved by the CFP management committee, executive director Rich Clark announced, after Baylor Athletic Director Mack Rhoades stepped down due to personal reasons. Rhoades has also taken a leave of absence from his post at Baylor amid a university investigation.

The CFP also announced the return of Utah Athletic Director Mark Harlan, a close friend of Yurachek's, to the committee to assume the Big 12's representation on the body after Rhoades' decision.

Yurachek, already on the committee in the second year of a three-year term, will now conduct Tuesday
