It was all smiles for the parents of one of Crieff’s newest arrivals after a nervous wait to secure Home Office approval was finally granted.
Ukrainian couple Fedir Lukianiuk and Olga Blyzniuk have made their home in Perthshire after fleeing the conflict in their homeland more than three years ago and are now living under the Ukraine Permission Extension Scheme.
The 18-month follow-on scheme allows Ukrainians whose original three-year visas were due to expire to stay in the UK – but the fate for their baby son Theo was more uncertain.
The visa application for his status faced delays described as “lengthy and distressing” by the family, with questions over whether the family would be permitted to live together in Scotland.
