Wall Street is hoping to recover today from its worst showing in a month. On Thursday, the Dow fell nearly 800 points while the Nasdaq dropped more than 500 points, raising concerns about market volatility.

The government is reopening its agencies after the record 43-day shutdown ended on Wednesday. Roughly 1.4 million federal workers who haven’t received a paycheck in over a month are still waiting for back pay . Many of these employees across the US told CNN that they’re contending with more than six weeks of backlogs and thinner staff.
