‘I’m just trying to survive’: Kalamazoo woman has mixed feelings after old video goes viral

KALAMAZOO, MI -- On Tuesday night, Mandy couldn’t sleep.

She laid awake in the 2013 minivan she’s been living in for three years, trying to avoid looking at her phone.

With every passing minute, it would ding with an email or TikTok notification. Mandy, who declined to provide her last name for privacy reasons, was going viral.

“I almost want to just delete everything and hide,” Mandy told MLive/Kalamazoo Gazette on Wednesday.

On Monday, Mandy reposted a confrontation she had in 2024 at Second Reformed Church, 2323 Stadium Drive in Kalamazoo. In four days, the video has been seen more than 8 million times. The video shows Mandy asking for help as a woman in the church threatens to call the police.
