Police say they have determined the identity of a woman whose body was found on the Lake Michigan shoreline near New Buffalo in 1988.
The Michigan State Police said the remains have been identified as Dorothy Glanton, 71, of Chicago, Illinois. Glanton's body was found on April 8, 1988, MSP FIfth District said in a post on X on Nov. 13.
Glanton was r eported missing after leaving her Chicago home on Dec. 9, 1987, the MSP said. Her cause of death was never determined, the DNA Doe Project said.
"Despite extensive investigative efforts at the time, her identity could not be determined," MSP said.
The Michigan State Police said the remains had been known for decades simply as “New Buffalo Jane Doe.”
