CLINTON COUNTY, MI -- A federal accident report shows the crew of a business jet that crashed in October near Lansing decided to conduct their own stall test after maintenance was performed.
Staff with the National Traffic Safety Board released a preliminary report on the Oct. 16 triple-fatal crash in Clinton County involving a Hawker 800XP.
The report shows that the plane had been at Battle Creek Executive Airport at Kellogg Field since March for routine maintenance.
The plane’s manufacturer required that, following maintenance, a stall test flight must be performed before the plane could return to service.
According to the NTSB, the plane’s captain was provided a list of experienced test pilots who could be hired to perform the stall test.
