The Columbian reported on the “first and only pet crow in the city of Vancouver” on Nov. 12, 1925. Vancouver Police Department officers found a “seriously ill” crow and nursed it back to health. The officers were “still donating three meals a day” to the corvid. Police Chief R.E. McCrite “pointed out that the bird is perfectly gentle and not the least bit dangerous as long as he is left absolutely alone.”

Rumors that the Vancouver shipyards “are about to reopen” brought around 150 people a day to the local state employment office. Office Manager J. F. McDonnell said the office had received “no word about the shipyard’s opening” and believed it to be just a rumor.
