Seventeen Air Force members who are transgender are suing after the federal government revoked their pensions and benefits.
The members, who served 15 to 18 years in the Air Force, were forced to retire early under the ban on transgender troops implemented by President Donald Trump’s administration, according to Fox News . Their lawsuit is seeking retirement benefits they had previously been promised.
The suit, filed Monday, comes after the Air Force said in August it would not allow transgender service members with 15 to 18 years of service to retire early and apply for benefits , Fox News said. That was a reversal of an earlier decision
The members affected by the new policy face a loss of $2 million in benefits in addition to losing health insurance, according to The Associated
