LENOIR COUNTY, N.C. (WITN) - The Lenoir County Board of Elections will consider three election protests filed after Kinston’s municipal election.

The board will decide whether to pursue a formal hearing on the three protests, one against city council candidate Les Lipford and two against mayor-elect Kareem Moore.

Lenoir County GOP Sean Keenan filed an amended protest against Lipford, claiming that Lipford either lives outside the city or that he falsified loan documents.

Keenan’s initial protest was dismissed, with the board saying there was not enough information to move forward with a hearing.

The two protests challenging Moore were filed yesterday morning.

One protest claims that Moore registered to vote just days before Election Day and months after the filing period ended.
