Throughout the history of the NHL hosting regular season games overseas, there’s been a strong correlation between the teams that participate in them and success in the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Pittsburgh Penguins and Nashville Predators are hoping that trend rubs off on them ahead of their 2025 NHL Global Series clash in Stockholm, Sweden on Friday (2 p.m. ET, 11 a.m. PT, Sportsnet and Sportsnet+).

In the 10 seasons that the NHL has held regular-season games in Europe, six teams involved in the contests have gone on to win the Cup.

And while Nashville currently sits last in the Western Conference’s Central Division with a 5-9-4 record, seemingly behind the 8-ball already, the Penguins are looking to recapture the magic of their decade-old dynasty days.
