Former Iowa State football quarterback Brock Purdy will return to the San Francisco 49ers starting lineup in Week 11 after missing the team's previous six games with a toe injury.

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan confirmed that Purdy will start Sunday, Nov. 16, against divisional opponent the Arizona Cardinals. It's the first time Purdy's suited up for a game since Week 4 against the Jacksonville Jaguars .

49ers backup quarterback Mac Jones started eight games in Purdy's place. The 49ers have gone 5-3 in Jones' starts, with the Alabama alum throwing for 2,151 yards and tossing 13 touchdowns and six interceptions. Jones' total quarterback rating of 64.9 ranks 10th among all quarterbacks in the NFL.
