Fourteen people, including two former Rutgers University wrestlers, were charged Thursday with running an illegal online sports betting scheme in New Jersey that has ties to the mob, officials said.

Members of the ring operated a multi-million dollar online sports betting operation that included members of the Lucchese crime family, according to the state attorney general’s office.

Joseph M. “Little Joe” Perna, 55, of Fairfield, New Jersey, a soldier in the Lucchese crime family, was the leader and financial backer of the organization, officials said.

Perna’s son, Joseph R. Perna, 25, of Oakland, sat at the top of the organization, managing 10 sub-agents, officials said.
