ELLENBORO, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The Ellenboro Fire Department said a firefighter was hurt while responding to a call on Friday morning.

Chief Terry Horn said a member of the department was heading to a structure fie when the fire truck tried to avoid a deer in the road and rolled over on Piney Mountain Road around 3:30 a.m.

The driver was airlifted to a hospital in Spartanburg where they are in serious but stable condition, the chief said.

Officials said no other vehicles were involved.

“All prayers are appreciated,” officials said.
