LAFAYETTE – The latter half of the day in the high school state volleyball quarterfinals saw two more Baton Rouge-area schools book trips to the semifinals.
Here's a quick look at two matches from the second half of the day.
St. Joseph's 3, Northshore 0
The Redstickers (24-11) won 3-0, but the win was anything but easy against the Panthers.
St. Joseph's trailed 12-5 to open the first set. After going down 15-8, a kill by senior outside hitter Gracie Mann sparked a 5-0 run to make it a two-point game.
After Northshore made it 17-14, two kills and an ace by sophomore setter Emmy Graves helped produce a 7-0 run to help St. Joseph's take a 21-17 lead. The Redstickers would close out the set 25-21.
